A Sappy (But Real) Birthday Post

It's this guy's birthday today.

Oh man. There aren't words sometimes to describe how I feel about this guy. I am so, so lucky that I brainwashed him into marrying me.

What are some of Derek's best qualities, you ask? Number 1 is he always lets me try his food when we go out to eat, and he never gets mad when I take food off his plate when what he orders is better than what I did.

10 Other Things

1. He is kind. Effortlessly kind.
2. He is amazing with children, and everyone knows it. It's definitely one of his gifts. My cousin once told me that Derek is going to be a "ROCKING" dad and I definitely agree.
3. He is funny.
4. He is smart as a whip.
5. He is family-first.

6. He is fun.
7. He is a foodie. We love going out to eat together because we just both love food so much. It's also fun to grocery shop together and go look at all the new cereal and Oreo flavors they are always coming up with.
8. He prioritizes the Gospel. I came home from work the other day and he had made us general conference folders so we could better organize whatever talks we're studying from (his idea, by the way).
9. He gives amazing shoulder massages.
10. He is passionate (especially about sports and politics).

*Bonus number 11* He cares about the things I care about, and I think that's one of the best ways you can tell what kind of person you're dealing with: based on how they make you feel about yourself. He lets me use his fancy Bluetooth headphones since it's easier for me when I run. I came home once and found a piano keyboard set up in our living room. When I started the blog, he got out his fancy computer monitor so I would have a little station and told his family about it.

Yep, I sure lucked out with this one. There are definitely times where things aren't so sunshiney and I look at him and say "Why do you always leave the fridge open?" and he says "Why do you keep dropping spaghetti sauce and salsa jars on the ground right after we buy them?" But a birthday is not the day to talk about moments like that (in depth;)

Happy birthday, babe! Love you forever.

What do you admire most about your significant other/what's a quality you're looking for in a significant other?

What's the best birthday dessert?

Derek loves ice cream cake, banana pudding, tres leches cake, and banana creme pie. (Do all men in your life love banana creme pie too? Someone please explain this.)
